As we’re rapidly approaching our Club Changeover, office bearers are busy compiling reports to be included in the Rotary Club of Wahroonga 2023 Annual Report. We have brought changeover forward by two weeks (now Wed 14 June) as our incoming President Mentie Knowles will be overseas for a few weeks. Bookings are open for our Club Changeover and for convenience, there’s a link in the weekly bulletin, “Wahroongler”. Our event
will be held at Magpies Waitara, and it will be a fun and rewarding evening.
Our guest speaker at last Wednesday’s breakfast meeting was our own Sergeant Simon Clegg. Simon’s talk on AI and our future was very informative, and for some rather confronting. Due to time limitation and the complexity of the topic, it was agreed to allow Simon additional time this coming Wednesday.
We always enjoy having Sergeant Simon’s daughter Lilly at our breakfast meetings. Having Lilly with us is an important part in her development, especially confidence building when Lilly is invited to answer questions, pass comment, etc.
This past Saturday I attended my first Rotary D9685 COTA meeting as a guest. COTA is the Committee of the Association, and my formal three-year placement commences 1 July 2023.
Interestingly, the Rotary Club of Ku-ring-gai is setting up a satellite club, Ku-ring-gai Community Network. The club will meet twice monthly, on weekends, and establish their own local and international community projects.
At District Assembly this year PP Neil McWhannell presented to the Club Foundation Chairs the opportunities available to support the RI Foundation which in turn supports a myriad of International service projects and Club matching Grants.
One specific initiative about which Neil spoke at our meeting last week – without costing you a cent!! Your estate will make the donation – which aims at 0.03% of the average estate! Anyone interested in leaving a Bequest is encouraged to contact Neil – nmcw1958@gmail.com
Here attached is Neil's PPT presentation at assembly.
District Assembly has recently been run partly online and other sessions Face to Face. There are always a lot of wonderful ideas presented and shared at this event which provides Club Directors with lots of room for thought as to how they may provide their Club members with new ideas - creating vitality and energy for their members to participate in supporting the local and International community.
Our Club had two members present at the Assembly - Sallianne McClelland and Neil McWhannell (twice- a Foundation PPT provided above in this edition).
Attached here are their Video presentations for your enjoyment
