Without doubt, the highlight of this past week has been the Wahroonga Village Fair. Congratulations to Greg and his team for superb organisation. The sun was shining and everyone was in a festive mood. Raffle sales were brisk, as was the activity on the Rotary craft stall.  Congratulations to Doug and Greg for their work gaining sponsorships from Ray White Upper North Shore, McCarroll’s Automotive and SOS Removals and Storage. Such achievements take time, tact and persistence, and our club has benefitted from their efforts.

A comment from DG Christine Owen in her latest e-news bulletin:

I was stunned by the wonderful and exciting Wahroonga Fair on Sunday 3 December. What a great club event with the involvement of sponsors and many, many stalls, entertainment, beautiful weather and throngs of people! Congratulations Wahroonga Rotary Club!”

On Wednesday 6 December about 20 Wahroonga Rotarians gathered at the PCYC in Waitara at 8.30am to take part in the Walk Against Domestic Violence.  We wore our distinctive purple shirts and walked through the streets of Waitara. Coming back to the PCYC, we listened to addresses by politicians and representatives of social action groups, then enjoyed morning tea. Janelle Craig, Chair of the District Say NO to Domestic and Family Violence Campaign, spoke on behalf of Rotary. It was an impressive gathering to mark the UN’s 16 Days of Activism.

This coming week (13 December) will be the last Rotary meeting for the year. Please come along for the AGM, a presentation on the Foundation and a video taken at the Village Fair. It will be an opportunity to learn about the current work of the Foundation and to see a professional photographer’s view of the Fair.

Rotary in 2024 will begin on Wednesday 17 January with a breakfast BBQ on the grassed area where I live in Coonanbarra Road. If that is not possible (the grassed area may be needed as the storage ground for building material), we will gather in the park. Details will be advertised closer to the date.

Thanks to everyone for their support of the Club during the last six months. All efforts contribute and are appreciated.

Have a wonderfully happy and healthy Christmas!
