With the Novus Foundation Gala Dinner fast approaching, it was appropriate to invite the recipients to our breakfast meeting. Representatives from Streetwork, Be Centre and Stepping Stone House came along. Whilst many of us have previously met Helen Banu (Streetwork), it was good to meet Michelle Carlyle (Be Centre) and Tanya Jackson-Vaughn (Stepping Stone House).
I feel we are all much better informed following their brief and informative presentations. Michelle joined us for coffee in the Village after the meeting.

Along with a few of our members, I attended the first session of District Assembly on Sunday 1st may at the Castle Hill RSL. Our incoming District Governor, Mina Howard, gave an address and compared her Rotary journey with some of the amazing treks she has been on; preparation, challenges, setbacks, rewards, etc. Mina has a long history of involvement with emergency services and her close connection with Shane Fitzsimmons AO AFSM who is now Commissioner of Resilience NSW. Shane Fitzsimmons attended the meeting and gave a keynote address. This was recorded by a Rotarian and posted on social media. Here’s a link to the video
As previously mentioned, upgrade of the new footpath is now complete and open to the public. Ku-ring-gai Council advises the outcome is a result of the strong partnership with TfNSW and their commitment to the project. This project will now be closed out.
The next phase of the laneway project which includes gardening and artwork, is being progressed with Council and Telstra.
This week we will have one of PP Neil McWhannell’s world class Five Star Fellowship interviews with one of our long-serving and highly respected members

It is a transformative experience for the many young people who will be attending to gain insight into the challenges (and joys) of the families of children with special needs. In past years there has been assistance from Knox Boarders (119) and Knox Day Boys (250) to support the Special Needs runners and to add to the fundraising.
