Thanks to PP Neil McWhannell for another world class Five Star Fellowship interview with one of our long-serving and highly respected members. I find these interviews very informative and interesting. We tend to know something about each other, but these interviews and the background research take our knowledge, understanding, and appreciation to another level.
The upgrade to the Wahroonga Laneway footpath and lighting is now finished. In accordance with a written instruction from the Minister for Transport, I was invited to attend a meeting with Ku-ring-gai Council and Transport for NSW to close out the project. Last Wednesday the Ku-ring-gai Council Director of Operations, Transport for NSW Deputy Project Manager for the Wahroonga Station project, Transport for NSW Publicity Officer, Deputy Head of Abbotsleigh Junior School and the two school captains met with Jo Karaolis and myself in the rain; the students were personally able to thank both Council and Transport for NSW for the work that has been done and the benefits to the students.
As previously mentioned, the next phase of the laneway project includes gardening and artwork; discussion is progressing with Council and Telstra.
Noting that we will be working more closely with Abbotsleigh students, it is important that our Working with Children records are up to date. An audit of the club records is being carried out and some members might be reminded to renew their WWCC. If you don’t have a Working with Children Check, and would like to obtain one, please have a chat with PP Sue Owen who can assist.
The Wahroonga Station upgrade in nearing completion and there will be a celebration at or near the station this coming Friday 20th May at 11am. All are welcomed.
Quite often you see different police vehicles in the PCYC carpark. Last week I came across a WRX that was a bit more colourful than my white ‘rex’.
As most members would now be aware, the theme for our next Rotary year is IMAGING. There’s an interesting story behind the theme which is discussed in the attached page. Note, we are not permitted to use the theme until 1st July 2022.

It is a transformative experience for the many young people who will be attending to gain insight into the challenges (and joys) of the families of children with special needs. In past years there has been assistance from Knox Boarders (119) and Knox Day Boys (250) to support the Special Needs runners and to add to the fundraising.
Please join in the fun and if you would like to Volunteer - Click - here.
