Wahroonga Rotary Club is celebrating 2021. In a year where so much has happened to negatively affect us all, it is easy to overlook significant dates and the resilience of others in our community.

To end the year on a happy and positive note, there are three things worthy of celebration. Did you know that it is:

> 100 years since Wahroonga Park was established, and

> 100 years since the first Rotary club started in Australia?

These are two events that the Rotary Club of Wahroonga would like to acknowledge and celebrate, together with members of the local community.

The Club has finalised with Ku-ring-gai Council a date on which to have this celebration December 4 2021

(Save the Date)

Members are invited to share their memories and impressions of the early days of the Park and their use of the valuable facility. Click - here - to explore the Centenary Webpage and contribute your valuable material that will assist us in gathering information.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, is the resilience of the business community in Wahroonga Village which we have witnessed first-hand. We have heard the “buy local” appeal by the Council. Now is the time to “support local” by acknowledging not only the financial cost to those many, many people who offer their services to our community, but also the emotional cost.

We will be asking local businesses to contribute something representing their business to a time capsule that will be buried on that day. Perhaps it will be a physical item, or perhaps it will be a short explanation of the difficulties experienced during COVID.

There will be a plaque for posterity. There will be official aspects to the day, but the intention is to concentrate on fun and community and a celebration together.
