Last weeks meeting was devoted to the Four-Way Test "debate" with three Knox senior students joining us to provide their thoughts on the topic.

'Can the Rotary  Four-Way test be applied to determine priorities for receipt of COVID-19 vaccinations?’

The team was accompanied by a moderator  - Ben Jackson. (past member Richard Jackson's son) a Knox teacher who provided observations on the boys presentations after their delivery.

Is it the Truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all?

The boys' delivery was very thoughtful with commentary about the the Four-Way Test being mixed. It was noted that the underlying sentiment had aspects that were applicable but the subject matter of the topic was of such complexity that the pragmatic approach required to ensure there was a balanced vaccine delivery programme, to protect the most vulnerable, was not fully supported by the contention of "fairness or benefit" applied to all at a particular point in time - so a time element needed to be considered.

The boys took up centre stage together and members, who thoroughly enjoyed the creativity of the presentations, had many questions for the team including a snapshot of their career aspirations. An interesting snippet of information that came from the team was that details related to the Rotarian who came up with the Four-Way Test wording can be found - here.

Thanks PP Ken and PP Sue and Helen for the opportunity to listen to such a high standard of delivery and the abilities of young adults to tackle such current/challenging issues.
