Highlights during the meeting included the induction of Nermine Toma accompanied by her two adult children, and Jo-Ann's lovely presentation of a gramophone accompaniment to promote the upcoming Book Launch fundraiser at her home on the 1st May 2021. (see more below)

Before the meeting got underway, however, we were all treated to Lars generosity in thanks for the Club's recent support to his family. Easter bunnys galore thanks you Lars we thoroughly enjoyed them.
--------------------
Our guest speaker today was long-time member of the Club, Steve McGregor, a man of generous spirit and endless creativity. It was Steve’s first visit to the Club in a year and he was welcomed back with a standing ovation.

He was here to tell us about his life as a writer and illustrator of over sixty books but like all our members, there are other sides to Steve that he didn’t talk about, such as his career as a financial adviser, his experience as the father of a daughter with different abilities and his contribution to the welfare of Club members. Steve has a big heart and we heard how he helped his daughter write and publish her own book with his illustrations and how he produced five illustrations for Ian Cameron’s granddaughter Lilli to encourage her in her writing endeavours.

Contd:
Each drawing takes 4 or 5 hours and Steve has produced hundreds and hundreds of them and they are superb, drawn with great character and humour as well as skilled draftsmanship. One of my favourites was his history of golf ( soon to be published) with illustrations that perfectly captured the more absurd moments of the game.
He also brought along a sketchbook he made during his travels in Europe in 2018 filled with enchanting drawings of the places and people that took his attention. How we would all love to have that gift, so much more meaningful than the endless clicking of cameras.
In fact, Jo Moffat conveyed the mix of envy and admiration that I expect many of us experienced during Steve’s talk. But what is amazing is not just Steve’s gift, but his enterprise and energy in converting it into such a prolific published oeuvre, and then sharing his acquired expertise with others so they too can get their work out to an audience. Steve certainly deserves that ovation he received.
