Prior to becoming a judge, Peter was a senior partner in the law firm, Ashurst (then known as Blake Dawson Waldron), where he had worked for 35 years, commencing as an articled clerk in 1971, until he was appointed as a District Court Judge.
The Children’s Court has jurisdiction in respect of youth crime (crimes committed by children aged from 10 to 17) and child protection (in respect of children at risk of significant harm from parental abuse or neglect).
