At this week's meeting our Community team leader Jo Karaolis will conduct a Community Caring Award presentation to the Sikh Temple and several of their representatives are coming to
breakfast where they will receive the award.
breakfast where they will receive the award. The breakfast is their award, in addition to the plaque, as they declined a donation, believing that others need the money more than they do. What they do need from us is a warm welcome and feeling that they are a valued part of the community, which is our Diversity Goal. Information about Sikhs in Australia can be accessed at this website: https://www.sikh.com.au/cgi-bin/index.cgi?page=27
We are honouring their efforts in providing meals to volunteer firefighters in the bushfires of 2019-20 as well as the work of the Sikh Community based in Parramatta that supported international students during the COVID-19 period when they were stranded in Sydney without aid after the lockdown.
