As many of you are aware, July is Plastic Free month and there’s a ton of initiatives underway. The End Plastic Soup, is one such initiative, which was started in 2018 by the Rotary Clubs of Amsterdam as a worldwide environment project for Rotary.
EndPlasticSoup aims that by 2050 there is no more plastic soup in the oceans, seas, no more plastic waste in our lakes, rivers, forests, parks and streets. Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Clubs worldwide work together to solve and prevent the plastic pollution problem throughout the full cycle.
DG Christine Owen organised a Zoom meeting on 27 Jul to discuss more about the ending plastic soup and plastic pollution.
I recently participated in a workshop with Rebecca Prince-Ruiz, the founder of the Plastic Free Foundation which runs the Plastic Free July initiative globally. She’s quite a force and such an inspiration, a true change-maker who believes in taking action NOW!
Plastic Free July challenge encourages millions globally to avoid waste, plastic pollution, and drive behaviour change. There’s many groups and conversations across Australia, New Zealand, India, USA and the UK. If you’d like to engage with the initiative please see https://www.plasticfreejuly.org and https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/get-involved/what-you-can-do/category/next-steps/.
Share with us your special initiatives to reduce your own single use plastic use and spread the word!
