Presentation at St Edmund's College Assembly
Last Friday morning President Janelle and President-Elect Peter made joint presentations at St Edmund’s College’s fortnightly Assembly. One was a Community Caring Award to the staff of the school for the valiant way that they coped during the COVID-19 shut down last year and the other was a long-delayed Community Service Award to Terry O’Keefe who has been a leader at the school for 33 years and is their ‘Mr Chips’ (for those old enough to remember the 1939 film Goodbye Mr Chips).

Contd:
It was a special assembly held to commemorate Sorry Day and I have never been at a more moving and meaningful observation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their experience of white settlement of their land. As each class of students brought out the hands they had made to represent their Sorry offering, President Janelle had to wipe the tears from her eyes. Shortly afterwards though we were all laughing and in high spirits as the students celebrated those among them who received Student of the Week and similar awards. Their excitement for each winner was inspirational and the whole morning was food for the soul.
