Global Rotary Experiences: An excellent growth opportunity
Aug 31, 2016
The more we expose ourselves to different environment, societies and cultures, the better is our understanding of how we live ourselves. Rotary provides an excellent mechanism to move through these various cultural sheaths, thereby providing us with great opportunity to understand the nuances of one society, culture and country from another. Being a professionally-based service organization, we also have the advantage of meeting with people who have excelled in their work/business. Furthermore, Rotary provides a great chance to develop younger generations through its various youth forums, activities and programs. In this talk, Rotarian Bhuvan Unhelkar highlights his experiences of Global Rotary makeups, and his view on youth programs such as YES. |

Abhi Poudel-- May 2016
I have an honors degree in Hospitality Management from UK and I used to work as a Director of Sales for Hilton Hotels in the UK. After 15 years in the UK, my then pregnant wife Karishma (Kay) and Son Aaron (then 2 and half) moved permanently to Australia in June 2014 and had a daughter Aeva in September 2014. I came for the birth of Aeva and went back to the UK before permanently moving to Australia in November 2014. Since moving to Australia, I have registered and own two companies R.K. Poudel Enterprises (registered in Nepal) and Afna Pty Ltd in Sydney. I work as a Director in both of them. Besides these, I am a Founder and CEO of Basanta Foundation Inc in Australia. Following the Nepal earthquake April 2015, started working on charitable activities. Helped register Basanta Foundation in Nepal in May 2015 and registered Basanta Foundation Inc in Australia in Feb 2016. For Basanta Foundation, I organise several events to raise funds for the Foundation. Recent ones are Table Tennis Tournament and Nepalese Cultural Program. Currently there is a Basanta Foundation Charitable Cricket Tournament going on and we have got Basanta Foundation Charitable Football (Soccer) Shield planned soon. Recently I have also helped launch a catering business to my sister-in-law who is a chef and I take care of the business side of things working as a Director of Business Development. Apart from this, I am a player/manager/director of a Nepalese community cricket team Bhadrakali Lions that participates in two tournaments a year.
